One recommendation I have while visiting Red Wing (although I have many) is to take in a show at the historic Sheldon Theatre – the “Jewell Box” of Red Wing.
During the month of December, the Sheldon Theatre’s Holiday line-up is a feast of artistry for a variety of likings.
November 30th and December 1st: Sheldon Brass Band Holiday Concert. French horns, trumpets, trombones and other brass instruments joyously performing Christmas anthems- what a festive sound!
December 6th: Cherish the Ladies: Celtic Christmas.
Beautiful Irish music displayed through instrumental talents, exquisite vocals and lively step dancing lends to a jolly foot tapping time!
December 8th: M-pac: White Christmas A pop-jazz vocal group singing the songs of Christmas with their signature sophisticated style!
Polished performers – among THE BEST in the country!”
– NBC’s The Today Show
December 13th: The Platters: Very Merry Christmas Show. (2 showtimes)
“The Platters legendary harmonies bring joy to the holiday season with an incredible show of traditional Christmas music, plus the decades of classic hits we all love and remember.” Sheldon Theatre
December 17th: Lorie Line: The 30th Year Celebrating Christmas.
Lorie Line’s Christmas show is spectacular! A very special celebration of the yuletide season and Lorie’s thirty years of sharing her musical talent with audiences.
“Lorie Line was recently inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. She joins the ranks with Bob Dylan, Prince and Judy Garland.” Lorieline.com
December 20th: The Nutcracker Ballet
An annual tradition at the Sheldon Theatre. Beautiful choreography, exquisite costumes and of course, the familiar music of this ballet classic.
“The Continental Ballet Company’s Nutcracker has toured throughout Minnesota, and is a beloved annual tradition at the Sheldon.” Sheldontheatre.org
December 28th: C Willi Myles Home for the Holidays
Get ready to laugh as you listen to C Willi Myles share his family friendly and humorous stories!
“Referred to as “America’s Everyday Comedian,” his hilarious down-to-earth performance will convince you that Willi is truly comedy at its best!” Sheldontheatre.org
December 31st: New Year’s Eve with Monroe Crossing
Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Sheldon while listening to the lively music of one of the best Bluegrass bands around!
“One of the premiere bluegrass bands in the state” – MN Original, Twin Cities Public Television
What a great variety; something for everyone!
Consider making a weekend out of the event and stay at the Candlelight Inn Bed and Breakfast.
